A flameproof distribution box is a safety electrical device for explosive atmospheres containing flammable gases, vapors, or combustible dust. Its design principle is not to prevent an internal explosion but to contain it: a robust enclosure, precise joint-gap control, and arc-quenching details trap high-temperature flame and explosion pressure inside the cabinet, then cool the flame to a safe temperature before it exits, so the external hazardous atmosphere is never ignited. It is classified by protection type as flameproof (Ex d), increased safety (Ex e), pressurized (Ex p), and composite variants. The Ex d version uses a high-strength cast-iron, cast-aluminum, or welded-steel body that withstands internal explosion pressure without rupture; precision-machined flameproof flanges between cover and cabinet, and around button shafts, cool and depress the internal flame; special explosion-proof cable glands maintain the seal at every entry; and interlocks prevent opening the cover while the circuit is live. Selection must match the hazard zone (Zone 0/1/2 or 21/22) and the gas or dust ignition class.

We treat flameproof design as an engineering exercise and develop each Ex-rated configuration with our own R&D team against the specific gas group, temperature class, and zone you declare. Rather than fitting generic terminals into a cast box, we size the enclosure wall thickness, flange gap, and cable-gland selection to your equipment list and area classification. For buyers in petrochemical, oil and gas, or dust-handling plants, this technical customization means the box carries the correct Ex marking for its location, avoiding costly rejection at site acceptance and protecting personnel in the hazard area.

Applications

  • Petrochemical tank farms and pump rooms. Reaction units, tank farms, and pump rooms carry flammable gas mixtures; an Ex d box contains any internal arc and keeps external ignition risk at zero.
  • Oil and gas extraction and pipeline stations. Drilling platforms, gas processing plants, and compressor stations classify their zones strictly; a flameproof box marked to the correct gas group meets mandatory electrical-area regulations.
  • Combustible-dust environments. Flour mills, feed plants, and aluminum/magnesium powder processing carry dust-explosion risk; the sealed, robust enclosure prevents internal sparks from reaching a dust layer outside.

Customization

We customize the Ex protection type, enclosure material, flange finish, cable-gland arrangement, and internal component lineup to your declared gas group, temperature class, and zone. Cover form, push-button and indicator layout, and nameplate marking are configurable; drawing-based engineering and prototype approval are supported.

Packaging & Transportation

Boxes are packed in fumigation-free plywood crates, reinforced for ocean freight. Trade terms: FOB, EXW, DDP; payment by T/T.

FAQ

Q: How do you choose the right enclosure material for a corrosive plant?

A: We assess dust, moisture, chemical exposure, and vibration at your site, then select thickened steel, stainless steel, or a specialized coating with a matching IP rating and cooling method.

Q: Can you build to our OEM control drawings?

A: Yes. OEM/ODM is supported: we assemble the panel to your electrical scheme, using your specified PLC, starters, and breakers, while keeping your design confidential.

Q: What protection level is typical for outdoor or washdown areas?

A: Washdown and dusty areas typically require IP65 or higher, plus corrosion-resistant coating; we confirm the exact rating against the actual environment during drawing review.
