Busbar trunking, developed in the United States as a new circuit system called "Bus-Way-System," uses copper or aluminum as conductors, supported by non-aluminum insulation, and is then installed in metal trunking to form a new type of conductor. Its practical application in Japan began in 1954 (Showa 29), and busbar trunking has since seen significant development. Today, it is an indispensable wiring method in electrical equipment and power systems in high-rise buildings, factories, and other applications. Due to the increasing power demands of buildings, factories, and other structures, traditional wiring methods, such as conduit wiring, present numerous construction difficulties. Furthermore, simplifying changes to the power distribution system is nearly impossible. However, busbar trunking makes this much easier and also enhances the aesthetics of buildings. Economically, while busbar trunking itself is more expensive than cables, the overall construction cost is significantly lower compared to the cost of all wiring accessories and the entire power system, especially when dealing with large current capacities.
