Lifespan of Seismic Bracing

The lifespan of seismic bracing is mainly divided into two categories: replaceable and non-replaceable, depending on the type and environment. Replaceable bracing has a lifespan of approximately 25 years (requiring regular maintenance), and its performance is affected by material quality (e.g., zinc plating thickness ≥12μm) and installation process (bolt torque ≥50N·m). Non-replaceable bracing must be matched to the building's design life (usually 50-70 years) to ensure seismic performance is synchronized with the main structure. In practical applications, industrial environments (such as chemical plants) or highly corrosive areas may shorten the lifespan, requiring anti-corrosion coatings (salt spray test ≥500 hours) or the use of stainless steel materials (e.g., 304/316 grade) to extend the service life.
