A Zn-Al-Mg alloy cable tray is a cable support system built on cold-rolled steel strip whose surface is fused with a hot-dip zinc-aluminum-magnesium coating. From a metallurgical standpoint, the coating is a deliberately engineered multi-metal layer: zinc delivers cathodic protection to the steel substrate, aluminum forms a dense, stable alumina film that blocks corrosive media, and magnesium reacts preferentially at scratches to suppress under-film corrosion spreading from the cut edge. The result is a sacrificial, self-healing barrier whose performance is governed by the Zn/Al/Mg ratio and by how uniformly the alloy bath is applied across the steel strip. The tray retains the load-bearing stiffness of steel while offering markedly better atmospheric and salt-spray resistance than plain hot-dip galvanized products, with a smooth, spangle-free finish.

We control the coating at the metallurgy and process level, not just the finished product. The alloy composition and bath parameters are fixed so that every coil in a batch carries the same Zn-Al-Mg ratio and coating weight, and the continuous hot-dip line is calibrated for uniform coverage across tray width, bend radius, and punched rung holes. For buyers running large infrastructure or coastal projects, that batch coating uniformity means corrosion performance is consistent from the first length to the last, with no weak zones at cut edges or perforations, and coating specs can be quoted and procured by metallurgical value rather than appearance alone.

Applications

  • Coastal infrastructure and port equipment. Salt-laden air attacks plain galvanized steel at cut edges; the Mg-rich alloy heals scratches at tray ends and bolt holes, preserving the support system in a marine atmosphere.
  • Wastewater treatment and chemical-plant cable runs. H₂S and acid-mist atmospheres drive under-film rust; the alumina barrier film plus sacrificial zinc layer protects the substrate where ordinary galvanizing would bleed rust in months.
  • Tunnel and subway power and signaling circuits. Long, hard-to-maintain runs need predictable coating life; consistent batch metallurgy means the installed system performs uniformly across hundreds of meters without spotty coating failures.

Customization

We fix the Zn-Al-Mg alloy composition and coating weight to your project spec, and adjust tray width, depth, rung pitch, and hole pattern to drawings. Surface finish, color, and logo marking are configurable; batch coating parameters are documented so repeat orders match the original metallurgy.

Packaging & Transportation

Trays are bundled and packed in fumigation-free plywood crates, reinforced for international shipment. Trade terms: FOB, EXW, DDP; payment by T/T.

FAQ

Q: How is Zn-Al-Mg coating different from ordinary hot-dip galvanizing?

A: Ordinary galvanizing is zinc only. The Zn-Al-Mg alloy adds aluminum for a barrier oxide film and magnesium, which selectively corrodes at scratches and cut edges to self-heal and stop under-film rust from spreading.

Q: Do coating properties stay consistent across a large batch order?

A: Yes. The alloy composition and bath parameters are held fixed on the continuous hot-dip line, and coverage is controlled across width and punched features, so corrosion performance is uniform across the batch.

Q: Can you quote the coating by metallurgical specification rather than by appearance?

A: Yes. We document the alloy composition and coating weight for each batch and build repeat orders to that same metallurgical specification.
